The Spiritual Effect of Censorship & Deplatforming

Deplatform that b*stard!

I don't know how we got here, but I really wish we hadn't.

I never thought I would be living in an age where free speech and independent thought were considered not only undesireable but ...dangerous too?!

I'm referring to the modern phenomenon of deplatforming and silencing people with opinions that we either do not agree with, or do not want to be publicly seen to agree with, and the ramifications of doing so, on a deeper, more subtle level.

I am very much a proponent of free speech, and I believe most people would be if they realised what it really meant for everyone.

As a vegan, there are obviously plenty of people and opinions that I don't like, don't agree with or think are stupid. But although I may often believe I have the moral high ground, that does not give me the right to shut them up, get them fired, memory-holed or force them to act against their will.

I do have the right to question, discuss, debate, critique, ridicule, argue and reason with them.

I really believe that it's important we do not exist in echo chambers where we only ever hear our opinions or worse, the watered-down politically correct opinions given to us by the nanny-state.

I'm not going to reiterate the very important reasons why freedom of speech affects us all, because that has been done so many times, and so very eloquently by others before me. I want to look at the subject from a spiritual standpoint, which is one not often discussed.

The Spiritual Skinny

What are the spiritual and energetic ramifications when we seek to deplatform, ban, silence or otherwise harm others for their opinions?

First of all, it's very important to realise that we live in a free-will zone. The earth is a place for our souls to incarnate and have the experience of living as a human being with free will.

It certainly many not seem like it at times, but our free will is what makes us all unique, sovereign beings. It gives us dignity, and gives our lives meaning and purpose.

Your mind is your own, and although society, governments, corporations, religions and family may try to influence or manipulate you, everything in your life is still your decision.

I explain in some detail in my upcoming book about the Law of Attraction, just how important our predominant thoughts, feelings and beliefs are when it comes to creating our own reality - yes that's right, we create our individual reality.

It's easy to forget that we are actually spiritual beings having a human experience, and there certainly are plenty of experiences in each of our lifetimes on earth that may cause us to consider giving our power and choice away.

Unfortunately we live in an era where most of humanity has allowed governments, corporations and other "authorities" to take our power away, at least on the face of it, and make our most important decisions for us.

Our free will is the most important aspect of this lifetime, and yet we willingly give it away to mummy-daddy state, and allow ourselves to be downtrodden, used and abused because we believe it's "easier" or somehow "safer" that way.

It's spiritually immature and reckless to do this. As we allow rulers and authorities to have more and more say over what we can and cannot do, say, believe or even think, we imprison ourselves emotionally, mentally and spiritually too.

It seems that the knock on effect of this, has been that people are becoming ever more infantilised and immature, to the point where they can no longer tolerate to even hear an opinion they do not agree with.

Hence, I believe we get the modern phenomenon of deplatforming.

But how can we possibly learn and grow as humans and as spiritual beings unless our thoughts and beliefs are challenged?

By allowing others to dictate what and how we should think, we are abdicating our role as the captain of our ship, the ruler of our own being and soul journey.

We are bringing our spiritual growth to a virtual standstill.

One might argue that we have free will so we can do as we please, and if we wish to spend a lifetime in servitude and spiritual immaturity that is our privilege, and yes that is true to a point.

However...

And it's a big HOWEVER...

Humanity is currently moving into a crucial stage of our existence where we are evolving spiritually. We are being given the opportunity to break away from the old patterns of oppression and ignorance and ascend to a new level of enlightenment, compassion and higher consciousness.

We don't have time to sit around doing as we are told anymore. The time for that has long since passed, and spiritually we are being called upon to grow the hell up.

This is an era in our development where we are supposed to be working to become wiser and more enlightened not sitting on our backsides crying to mummy because the bad man said a word we don't like!

It may be very tempting to take a back seat and hand over personal responsibility to a seemingly higher power, but ultimately it can only take us backward in our evolution.

Many people are thankfully waking up to this point, and I feel this is a big part of why the old mainstream religions no longer appeal to many, certainly in the Western world.

Karma's a b*tch

On a personal level, we should also be mindful of the law of attraction and the laws of karma when we seek to silence someone, get somebody fired, or otherwise cause them harm because we do not agree with their opinions.

You can call yourself "liberal" or "compassionate," but you are neither if you seek to unlawfully harm, silence or deplatform somebody you don't agree with. It's no good kidding yourself that you are doing the right thing, or that it's alright because you're doing the wrong thing for the right reasons, because it's not OK, and the universe knows it.

On a spiritual level, we are all one and what we do to others, we also do to ourselves.

By screaming for a YouTube creator, politician or a speaker to be silenced, deplatformed, sacked, banned or shunned for an opinion, you will unfortunately be harming yourself on a spiritual level too.

You actually become an oppressor when you seek to do this, and the energy of oppression will come back to bite you sooner or later.

The effect may be that you also find yourself unfairly victimised, silenced or deplatformed in this lifetime. After all, what you send out energetically, is what will come back to you one way or another.

There will also be a karmic effect in lifetimes to come, not only for you but possibly for your descendants too. The karmic ripples can affect your family for generations to come. Do you really want to do that to your family?

True spiritual maturity and growth means taking full responsibility for yourself, your life and your actions.

Pointing fingers, blaming, complaining, playing the victim and harming others will not get you to a better place in this lifetime or the next.
