Forgiveness - without the strings attached

Image
Forgiveness seems like such a noble concept doesn't it? You forgive somebody for wrong doing, and everybody moves on with their lives happier and a little bit closer than before. When you're a child it seems so simplistic and it's portrayed as something you just have to suck it up and do, whether you want to or not. But what if the person or people who wronged you did something really terrible? Something really harmful, abusive or cruel. Should you still have to forgive them? Most major religions seems to say that you should, and this is where the whole concept of forgiveness becomes rather problematic to say the least. We've got forgiveness all wrong I'm going to go out on a limb here, and say that the type of forgiveness we were taught in the playground is not the kind of forgiveness we need as adults. It's noticeable that people in the holistic or "light worker" communities like to talk about grand concepts like unconditional love an

The Spiritual Effect of Censorship & Deplatforming

Image
Deplatform that b*stard! I don't know how we got here, but I really wish we hadn't. I never thought I would be living in an age where free speech and independent thought were considered not only undesireable but ...dangerous too?! I'm referring to the modern phenomenon of deplatforming and silencing people with opinions that we either do not agree with, or do not want to be publicly seen to agree with, and the ramifications of doing so, on a deeper, more subtle level. I am very much a proponent of free speech, and I believe most people would be if they realised what it really meant for everyone. As a vegan, there are obviously plenty of people and opinions that I don't like, don't agree with or think are stupid. But although I may often believe I have the moral high ground, that does not give me the right to shut them up, get them fired, memory-holed or force them to act against their will. I do have the right to question, discuss, debate, critique, ridi

Why I don't call myself a Lightworker anymore

Image
If you've ever spent any time with anyone from what I refer to as the "Spiritual Community," you will have heard the terms "love and light" and "lightworker" being used rather a lot. You may even use them yourself, or describe yourself as a lightworker. I want to be clear that this isn't a rant or a bashing article; Lightworker is a term I used to use to describe myself, but I realised after a time that it represents a basic misunderstanding of our spiritual purpose here on earth at this time.  When I talk about the Spiritual Community, I should clarify that I mean those of us who are mostly outside of mainstream religion, but who work with our psychic and spiritual gifts in some capacity, whether paid or not. Many of us work as alternative healers, holistic therapists or clairvoyants, and most of us feel drawn to a common cause for good. There is a lot of good, but there are also a lot of egos, which I suppose is to be expected, but the one

What Holistic really means

Image
Do you know what holistic means? It may not be what you think. I was surprised recently when a good friend and fellow holistic therapist brought my attention to the amount of confusion and misunderstanding there currently is attached to this word.  It's a word I used on a daily basis here on this blog and my YouTube channel as Holistic Vegan and also in my business name Angel Wings Holistics, so I felt it was time to put the record straight any just clear up some of the questions you might have about it. First of all I want to bust a few myths about what is doesn't mean because personal experience this year has taught me that there is a lot of fear and assumption attached to it, that I must confess, I was blissfully ignorant of. It's not a Religion As somebody who really doesn't get on with any of the world religions and abhors dogma, this is an important one to clear up first. A few years ago, back in 2011, we had a census here in the UK, and
